Dr. Kelly Ryan Taylor is passionate about her patients and loves nothing more than helping them gain confidence in their smiles. Dr. Taylor is a native of Carlsbad, CA. Dr. Taylor attended the University of California Los Angeles where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology. Upon graduation, she stayed at UCLA for dental school where she was awarded numerous awards for her clinical and academic performance. Dr. Taylor graduated in the top of her class with high honors and was selected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. Dr. Taylor was then fortunate enough to attend the prestigious University of Washington Orthodontic Residency Program. Here Dr. Taylor received her Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Taylor has extensively studied the relationship between orthodontic treatment and quality of life. She has presented her research internationally and has published her studies in American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, the most acclaimed orthodontic research journal.
Dr. Taylor is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, the highest mark given to orthodontists. She loves to share her passion for orthodontics and patient care in a few ways, including lecturing and educating local dentists and their teams. She is also an active member in many dental organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, California Orthodontic Association, and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, being a sports-mom, and rooting on the Bruins.
Linda Kim, DDS, MSD
CVO - Carlsbad Village Orthodontics
Dr. Kim has an equal dose of sweet and smart and she has been a great addition to our CVO family. She grew up in Singapore and came to the United States to attend Duke University. At Duke, she majored in biology, minored in chemistry and neuroscience, and graduated on the Dean’s Honor List. She also received the STAR award for her excellent volunteer service at the Duke University Hospital. She then pursued her DDS degree at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) as one of the few international students admitted to this highly competitive institution. At UCSF, Dr. Kim graduated with High Honors, and her passion for leadership and patient advocacy was recognized by the AADR, FNIDCR, and the Student Advocate of the Year award. After graduating dental school, Dr. Kim pursued residency training in orthodontics at Boston University (BU), where she also received her Masters of Science in Dentistry and served as Class President. In addition to her general orthodontics training, Dr. Kim completed Continuing Education courses on clear aligner therapy, phase I and phase II care, 3D imaging and airway evaluation, temporary implants, lasers, and medical esthetics.
Complementing her clinical interests, Dr. Kim also has a passion for research. She investigated the relationship between periodontal and metabolic disease and published her findings in the Journal of the California Dental Association. She also led an international study on the association between craniofacial anatomy and sleep-related breathing disorders in children. She presented her research nationally and internationally, and her work was accepted for publication in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the California Dental Association.
Dr. Kim is thrilled to call Carlsbad her home. In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy spending time with friends and family, running, hiking, playing pickleball and trying new restaurants and cafes – if you have any recommendations, let her know!
