Everyone is encouraged to join the Grunion Run Event happening on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 9:50 to 11:50 in the evening. The event will be held at the Oceanside Beaches, Oceanside, California.
Those participating will be able to play with thousands of slippery fish who land on the Oceanside shores after night fall every Spring and Summer. These fish are rather famous for their remarkable spawning behaviour evoking an “I don’t believe it!” reaction from individuals who got to see or hear about it for the very first time.
Grunions leave the water at night to spawn on the beaches thus making it such an incredible and once in a lifetime sight. For four several nights, starting on the night of the full and new moons, spawning happens after high tides and then continues for a number of hours. Grunions swim as far up the slope as they can when the waves break on the beach.
